Spring is really a great time for hiking in beautiful Palo Duro Canyon State Park. In case you didn't know...Canyon, Texas is home to the 2nd largest canyon in the United States(next to the Grand Canyon). It cuts across the Texas Panhandle for about 120 miles waiting to be explored. It is an extraordinary place to photograph, hike, mountain bike, camp, picnic and enjoy nature.
We share our favorite trails with guests and get great tips from them as well. Not long ago, a couple that stayed at The Hudspeth House told us of a cave they discovered through the guidance of a helpful park ranger. We have come across a few small caves in the Canyon that are listed on the official trail map. However, unless you are 3 feet tall or like to belly scoot, they are not my idea of a good time. So when this couple explained that the mouth of the cave was at least 30 ft. tall...this got our attention. Now, this cave is not on the map and it took us two outings to find it, but find it, we did, and ohhh, how rewarding!!!
Come visit us this spring and we will direct you to Palo Duro Canyon, some great trails and this incredible cave. We would love for you to stay at The Hudspeth House B&B, the #1 rated lodging accommodations in Canyon. Bring a jacket, but bring some shorts too. Springtime weather in the Texas panhandle is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you might get.
